Holts Café – Yorkdale

This casual café serves light breakfast lunch and dinner selections within the 120,000 sf HR Yorkdale flagship, also designed by js. The palette was conceived to create a comfortable and appropriate backdrop no matter the time of day as it must function for coffee in the morning and drinks in the afternoon or evening. The space is divided into two zones. A wrap-around banquette defines the dining area with a high communal table and an intimate bar opposite. A semi-open kitchen forms the backdrop to the dining space, and is fronted by glass display coolers where food selections are made visible. The entire café is wrapped by a decorative lacquered screen that allows for privacy within while still maintaining a connection to the retail environment that surrounds it.
